Asset Panda turns up in almost every search for asset tracking software, and it deserves to. It is mature, genuinely flexible, and used by organisations far larger than anything this page is written for. If you have a complicated asset process, it will probably bend to fit it.
This page is about one specific thing that makes it hard to evaluate, and about who is left over when the evaluation gets hard.
You cannot see the price
Asset Panda does not publish pricing. There is no plan table, no per-asset tier, no starting figure. The pricing page invites you to get a personalised quote, matched to your organisation and use case, and gives you a phone number and a demo booking form.
I want to be fair about this, because quote-only pricing is not a trick. It is how most enterprise software is sold, and there are honest reasons for it: the product genuinely does configure very differently for a hospital than for a school district, and a single published number would be wrong for nearly everyone.
But it has a real cost, and the cost falls hardest on small buyers:
- You cannot find out if it is affordable without talking to someone. For a business with two hundred laptops and no procurement department, that is a meeting before you know whether the meeting was worth having.
- You cannot compare it to anything. Every other tool in this space publishes a number. Asset Panda can only be compared after you have entered a sales process.
- You cannot budget for it. If you have to justify a line item to someone above you before you are allowed to make the call, you are stuck.
There is a free seven-day trial of a fully featured account, which is a genuinely good way to see the product. It just does not tell you what it costs.
When Asset Panda is the right answer
Plainly, so you can stop reading if this is you:
- Your asset data does not fit anyone's fixed columns. Configurability is the core of the product. If you have tried three tools and each was missing a field you need, that is the problem Asset Panda is built for.
- You need several people in it at once, with roles and permissions.
- You need a real mobile app your staff use in the field.
- You need it to talk to your other systems — directory, helpdesk, accounting.
- You have someone whose job includes this. Configurable software needs configuring, and that time is part of the price.
If three or more of those describe you, book the demo. I would rather you found this page and bought the right tool than bought something from me that does not fit.
Who is left over
The buyer nobody in this market serves well is the one who is too small for the sales call and too serious for a free template: a business with a few hundred specific items, one person who mostly manages them, no procurement process, and no appetite for a subscription that has to be renegotiated every year.
That gap is what this was built for. One Excel file with a dashboard on top:
- You can see the price on the page. It is $79. There is no call.
- Check things out to real people, stamped with a name and a date, so a month later you can still answer who had it.
- A due-back date and an Overdue filter showing how many days late something is — so “who is late” is answerable, not just “who has it”.
- Printable barcode labels generated from your own list, and scanning to pull an item straight up.
- Depreciation and book value, and warranty dates colour-coded before they lapse.
- Unlimited assets and unlimited people looking at it. Nothing is metered, because there is no server doing the metering.
What it asks of you, stated as plainly as the rest
It would be dishonest to describe someone else's trade-offs and hide my own:
- One editor at a time. It is a file. Two people editing at once will lose work. This is the biggest limitation and it rules out some teams entirely.
- Fixed columns. No custom fields. This is the exact thing Asset Panda is best at, and if it is your problem, this is the wrong tool.
- No mobile app. It is a browser page. It works on a phone; it is not an app.
- Nothing can be sent to you. Overdue and expiring items are colour-coded on screen, but no email or alert exists, because sending one needs a server and there isn't one.
- No permissions, no SSO, no integrations, no workflows.
- Camera scanning only works on Android. Chrome and Edge on Windows do not support the barcode API, and neither does Safari on iPhone or iPad. A USB scanner works everywhere and costs about $25.
In exchange: one payment, no renewal, no tier to outgrow, no sales call, and your records stay in
an .xlsx on your own disk. Stop using the dashboard tomorrow and it is still just a
spreadsheet you own.
The price is on the page, and so is the demo
There is a live demo with sample data. It runs in your browser, it does not ask for an email, and you can click every screen — check-out, the activity log, due dates, depreciation, warranties, scanning, labels — before deciding whether any of it is for you.
It is $79 once. If ten minutes in the demo tells you that what you actually need is custom fields, permissions and a mobile app, book the Asset Panda demo instead. That is the honest answer.
